ZOË AQUA + KATLAN AT SAVOY on JANUARY 28, 2025
Hailing from the Transylvania region of Romania, Katlan bring their unique sound of traditional Transylvanian music synthesized with American bluegrass and country vibes, to the Savoy in Denver on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Led by Attila Dezső (violin) and Budapest-native Lőrinc Mohácsy (bass), both virtuosic players with infectious energy who studied at Morehead State University in Kentucky on a Romanian cultural exchange, they are equally at home playing Transylvanian folk or Nashville blues. Katlan's lineup includes multiple fiddles, bass, and brácsa, a chordal viola not often seen outside of Hungary and Transylvania. They'll be joined on stage by Denver's own Zoe Aqua, a Fulbright scholar in Romani and accomplished klezmer violinist, for a program of music that promises the rhythmic propulsion and harmonic individuality of traditional Transylvanian infused with Americana and country and bluegrass sounds. This will be a unique musical meeting you won’t want to miss so grab your tickets below and we'll see you on 1/28/25 at Savoy.
